Thanks again for downloading MacHead's™ and now COMBINED with
MEGAmac's 1200+ Bookmarks. And I apologize for the "or else" tacked
onto this Read Me file name, I needed your attention
For those of you PAID individuals of A MacHead's™ Bookmarks please bear
with me, and of course this download is free to YOU. To the FIRST-TIMERS
AND THE 3,800 WHO DOWNLOADED BEFORE AND DIDN'T PAY THE
SHAREWARE FEE , please understand THIS. It's your right NOT TO PAY.
But I have been recently disabled due to a rare spinal cord disease
SYRINGOMYELIA (sah-ringo-my-e-lee-ah)and after 10 operations on my
spine I am left disabled and paralyzed from the neck down with the exception that I have about 25% use of my right arm left. This continues as a progressive disease but has now stablized for the past 2 years so you can imagine how busy the first 3 years were after being diagnosed.
It's not easy to do this you understand. Putting myself in this hand-out
position is alien to me. However that is why I've chosen this SHAREWARE
route, to make me feel better for what I'm about to ask.
I need not tell you how devastating this is to me and my family.
However, I have taken up the Mac and in the last several years have self
taught myself and with the donations of people like APPLE, and Mac users
in general, and have come to the point where I CAN and WILL make a living
to HELP support MY family.
These SHAREWARE bookmarks have been the beginning of gathering
funds to be applied to needed software and hardware to help me become a
Webmaster whiz through HTML and also in programming. I also don't need
to tell you how expensive of a process this is.
However, the success of the ORIGINAL "A MacHead's Bookmarks v1.0"
(some 4,000 downloads in the first 9 days on MacWorld's Mac Download
site alone) has shown me that Mac people are the GREATEST people in the
world.
Unfortunately that brings us back to the beginning. 4,000 downloads
at $3 each, well you do the math, but we've had some 30 people actually
PAY. Now like I said THAT'S YOUR RIGHT. But the percentages don't
lie............. Some 25% or more of those who kept the bookmarks just
failed to pay. Just that 25% alone would have been enough to make my
dream of purchasing the needed materials so I can support my family. I
know it's because they didn't read my "READ ME or else" file that
explains my predicament and is a part of every download. If there's one
thing Mac users are, it's honest. So lets chalk that one up to poor
communication or whatever.
But PLEASE, consider paying the SHAREWARE fee this time or, pay at
least what you feel it's worth or can afford.
And GOD bless those MacHead's™ who join in my mission. Your payments
and kind words, thoughts, and prayers have been and will always be the
driving force behind my dream.
